A gesture for Haiti

Inaugurated the school St-Pierre Lamontange in Jacmel (Haiti) built by Hoteles Catalonia and the Fundación Solidaridad Calasancia.

On November 17 took place the inauguration of the school built by Hoteles Catalonia and the Fundación Solidaridad Calasancia in La Montagne, a mountain area located in the west of Jacmel (Haiti). This city was badly affected by the earthquake of January 2010, and that's when the initiative comes from donors to implement a project to help the community directly: building a primary school, because education is the basis for developing society.

In the area of La Montagne lives the Terre Rouge community, an area of difficult land communication. Since 1995 worked in this community a school built precariously, with wood and zinc, began with the initiative of the Catholic Church and was maintained with the help of the faithful of the community.

Now the children of the community are happy to attend the school of St-Pierre Lamontagne, since it has a decent infrastructure that facilitates the learning of new knowledge: three classrooms equipped with quality furnishings, an administrative building, staff room, office for the director and stores for materials. The school is built on a property of the parish of Saint Pierre. For children and residents of the area is a great blessing to have these facilities at last.

Were also carried out activities such as those developed in connection with Sant Jordi, A Rose and a story for Haiti, through which customers of the restaurants in Barcelona benefited from a discount if they delivered school supplies for these kids.
